. terry mcsweeney is live at the scene 23rd and bryant. >> reporter: this where the story came to conclusion where police were able to find the suspect and make an arrest. there are possibly one or two more suspects still out there. take a look at video. first thing is a person being taken into custody. here's what police are saying, there were three possibly three people in a moving vehicle opened fire at a police officer. the officer moved around the suspect vehicle to avoid being shot and was not shot. nobody was shot at the end of this. the vehicle with the suspect or suspects in it took off, officer followed, called for back-up. one suspect was tracked down at 23rd and york. officers searching for other suspects 15 minutes ago or so they took down the crime scene tape. we also know that there was a car towed from this area with bullet holes in it. we are trying to find out how many suspects there were in the vehicle. we'll have that for you when we get more information. terry mcsweeney, abc7 news. >>> time for a look at the weather forecast. >>> we knew there would be mois

in san francisco just started rolling. that fire caused big problems at the west portal tunnel. terry mcsweeney joins us live. >> reporter: this is a story of the tire that would not go out. it isn't completely out yet. judgment a moment ago there were firefighters out here hitting the roof of the squat and gobble restaurant with more water they've been out here for six hours and there's still smoke many the same fire that caused the tunnel and all the muni trains to shutdown until 40 minutes ago. the report of a fire came in about 5:00 this morning. three hours later, despite a never-ending spray, the fire was still burning. >> it is a very deep building the first building the fire was hard to find they put out what they saw. i think it was way ahead of us before we got here in the walls, attic. >> reporter: when firefighters thought it was just about contained there would be a flare-up. again the fire would appear to be about out, only to flare again. the squat and gobble restaurant where it started is a total loss, next door a dentist office and wine bar both heavily damaged. on other side o

a gallon per day for the near future. terry mcsweeney is live with some of the -- some of the most expensive gas we've seen in the bay area. >>> also, heads-up for travelers, american airlines just cancelled a flight from sfo to miami, that was a 6:40 flight, we just got off the phone with american airlines they confirm the flight was cancelled due to a problem with loose seats on the plane. the airline is taking 44 flights out of service today. all 757's boeing airplanes, passenger seats have been come character tarb -- have been coming loose on four other flights. american has blamed delays and cancellations on a slow down by pilots with whom they are having a labor contract dispute with. we will continue to follow the story. >>> contra costa county health officials say a man has died from rabies the first such death in 20 years. in march, the man was bitten by a bat in late june the man developed symptoms vile vacationing in thailand, he died in a swiss hospital. tests confirmed rabies was the cause. once symptoms develop rabies is almost always fatal. the man worked in iraq. co
a drive-by shooting that targeted a police officer. terry mcsweeney is live at 23rd and bryant. what is the latest? >> reporter: things are calming down this started 1:30 this morning about 45 minutes ago, they took down the perimeter. never a number of suspects, people of interest they want to be talking to. take a look at the couple of the people in handcuffs a while ago out here near 23rd and york a from 20 nerd and bryant. started 1:-- possibly three suspects in a moving vehicle shot at a police officer the officer moved around the suspect vehicle to avoid being hit and he was not hit. nobody was hit in this incident. the vehicle with the suspects in it took off, officer followed the car call for back up suspect in custody officers searching for possibly more suspects trying to put this story together. this is all preliminary information. we know that after that chase, we're not sure where those shots were fired. we know it wrapped up a from where i am here down the street at 23rd and york. san francisco police trying to put in situation together. right now i can tell you the per
is impacting air travel. terry mcsweeney continues our live time coverage -- live team coverage from sfo. >> reporter: we have better news today, today most but not all of the flights in and out of sfo from those seven eastern airports, all the flights were cancelled yesterday, today not all are cancelled, some flights are coming out and back into san francisco. they are going to check the airport back there to see how much they can handle. something i found interesting the arrival/departure board at sfo, you can see there is a flight around noon today, scheduled to go to jfk, still listed as on time. interestingly a flight half an hour after that has been cancelled. the advice from the airport manager check with your airline do it online the phone lines are swamped so go online. talked with a woman who lives in menlo park she has family in the washington, maryland, virginia area she says it is not going well. >> particularly, raining a ton our house generally floods every time it rains us all the power went out for a few hours 10 hours, my brother drove to a friend's house to get a gene
